Holiday Greetings from Consentec

2024 has been a special year for Consentec. In August, we celebrated our 25th anniversary. Already in 1999, when the company was founded, issues at the interface between the electricity markets, which were still very imperfect and fragmented, and the electricity networks were a focus of our services, just as they are today. Since then, the range of topics has broadened considerably while some issues have simply become obsolete. Moreover, the dimension of challenges in the energy system has changed over the years. In 1999, for example, electricity generation from photovoltaics in Germany was 31 GWh, a factor of 2,000 below the values for 2024. In consequence, there is still a high demand for science-based technical and economic advice on energy systems. We decided to celebrate our anniversary with a relaxed dinner and a boat trip on the Rhine river with our current and former colleagues. The fact that several employees have been with Consentec for more than 20 years, some of them since day one, and that almost all of the small group of former employees accepted our invitation, makes us a little proud. We have also taken the company’s anniversary as an opportunity to completely our website. The new version, for example, makes searching for publications much easier. Please feel free to have a look around. In terms of energy economics and energy policy, the year was dominated by discussions about the future design of the electricity market and the development of grid costs. This is also reflected in our Christmas tree design(see Blog post). The words that can be seen on the tree are taken from articles and reports we have published throughout the year. We hope that in 2025, together with you, we will be able to pick up the pieces in order to achieve key milestones on the way to a climate-neutral energy system. The entire Consentec team wishes you a happy new year 2025.
