Study on Extent and Development of Grid Congestion Areas published

As part of the discussion on the redispatch reservation, Consentec, commissioned by Agora Think Tanks gGmbH, analyzed, using the grid areas of SH-Netz, Bayernwerk Netz, and WEMAG Netz as examples, the share of areas affected by redispatch requirements. The number of such areas depends primarily on the assumed activation threshold. In addition, the study examined how these congestion areas are expected to evolve in the coming years, taking into account planned grid expansion measures. It also demonstrated that it would be beneficial to differentiate between renewable energy technologies when defining criteria for congestion areas. The results have been published here.
